Dance Massive Melbourne is a national dance platform presented across three venues in Melbourne, Australia, featuring outstanding Australian contemporary dance from both established and emerging companies and choreographers. As with the first Dance Massive each presenter will curate the program that occurs within their venue.
Arts House is a multidimensional resource hub for artists hosting creative development residencies, a presentation program across 2 sites (Arts House, Meat Market and Arts House, North Melbourne Town Hall) and a special projects producing unit (recently...The Black Arm Band, Dance Massive, en masse)
The conception and initiation of Dance Massive has evolved from a critical process evaluating the current presentation opportunities for contemporary dance nationally, the capacity of venue based programmers to work and act cooperatively rather than competitively and to question the industry or market driven model for arts and cultural practice.
Arts House will program up to 6 works for presentation during Dance Massive 2011 in line with its broad curatorial vision and funding processes. Arts House will also host the Tanja Liedtke Fellowship during and after Dance Massive 2011.
Arts House will seek to support works of artistic excellence with a particular interest in those artists who are critiquing contemporary experience.
Arts House's call for Expressions of Interest has closed.
Dancehouse exists to advance independent contemporary dance in Australia through its program of research, training and performance. Dancehouse creates an environment where creative risk, independent career paths, collaborative relationships and diverse practice and presentation can flourish. Dancehouse is also a crucial link to a network of movement practices, artists and organisations in Australia and internationally.
Dancehouse's engagement in Dance Massive seeks to bridge a gap in professional development for independent artists by providing an opportunity to extend the life of works past initial presentation by exposing them to new audiences and international presenters.
Dancehouse's purpose as a presenter is to illuminate and validate new and existing dance work that challenges conventions, is audacious, complicated and sometimes difficult to digest, that provokes polarised opinion that entertains and inspires audiences and practitioners to take new directions and expand their perceptions and expectations of contemporary dance performance.
Australian independent choreographers and dance groups from all states and territories engaged in creating and presenting cutting-edge dance to audiences are encouraged to get in touch with Dancehouse and present their work and ideas.
Dancehouse will also consider the technical and financial requirements of presenting the work against our capacity to support such a presentation within the limits of our resources.
The Dancehouse call for Expressions of Interest has now closed.

Malthouse Theatre programs contemporary Australian dance at least once in each of its two subscription seasons annually. Dance Massive dates have been sequestered in all three venues and it is our intention to program at least three works (and up to four) during Dance Massive. The nature and number of events programmed will be subject to artistic synergy with Malthouse Theatre programming objectives, the quality of the work at every level, financial and technical viability, marketability to a Malthouse audience, and the balance of the season's program.
All subscription season productions are programmed by the Executive Producer and Artistic Director. An open submission process (for all programs) is detailed on the company's website and all submissions received through this process are formally considered three times a year. Malthouse Theatre takes a proactive role in all of its programming decisions and regularly invites and initiates collaborations.
